Affiliate Marketing Tips
Top 7 Differences Between Affiliate Marketing & MLM

Differences Between Affiliate Marketing & MLM The Internet offers a plethora of exciting money generation ventures today that it can be quite confusing for ordinary consumers who may want to jump onto certain bandwagons. There is the very popular affiliate marketing as well as the well established multilevel marketing venture that draws thousands of consumers to enjoy generating extra income at their own time and pace.

Although both are online business opportunities, there are certain obvious differences between affiliate marketing and MLM.

Understanding Affiliate Marketing

Individuals who want to consider joining affiliate programs must first understand what it is first; the concept and process must be clear with an identification of potential products or services to kick start the online business venture.

Firstly, these individuals are known as affiliate marketers who need not fork out any capital to indulge into this business opportunity on the web. There are no products to purchase to incur any cost or capital. This is one of the main reasons affiliate marketing is so popular. No investment is necessary to enjoy quick returns if the right marketing strategy is adopted.

Secondly, affiliate marketing is very attractive without any startup cost. Little technology skills and knowledge is required with no programming necessary. Thirdly, the commissions earned by affiliate marketers can be very lucrative depending on how diligent the marketers work and the offer rates by merchants or affiliate networks.

Fourthly, different affiliate programs offer different commission rates and payment conditions where a higher commission is accorded if the program promotes products and encourage sales of these products.

Fifthly, different affiliate networks offer different down-line schemes which allow affiliates to promote the sales of products with recruiting new affiliates under their supervision. These may be limited to a couple of tiers to prevent over-dependency of top affiliates on the lower ranks.

Some affiliate programs are very easy to execute with simple terms to satisfy. It could be just introducing potential leads to the merchants to receive commission. The more potential leads supplied, the higher the commission received by the affiliate marketer.

The sixth tip on affiliate marketing is that the affiliate does not need to be concerned about sales or customer services besides supplying potential leads to the merchant whose company handles all backend operations including customer follow up and service.

Many affiliate programs are easy to execute as there is no intense interaction between affiliates and customers. Hence, there is no need to know the customers personally, especially where potential leads are to be forwarded directly to the affiliate merchant for further processing. Potential leads could derive from the affiliate marketer’s own point of contact or via the affiliate website that provides irresistible offers in exchange of the web visitors’ email address or opt-in decision.

Last but not least, affiliate marketers may find different degrees of challenge in different affiliate programs in the market depending on their choice of programs and terms of offer. There may be certain restrictions imposed on affiliate marketers to comply with the system payment and operations.

Understanding Multilevel Marketing (MLM)

On the other hand, multilevel marketing has been well established over the years with a large number of marketers known as resellers. They are also called multilevel marketers who not only buy and sell merchant products, but also recruit others to do likewise in unlimited tiers.

Firstly, resellers are obliged to make a certain purchase volume, which is the minimal quantity imposed by operating merchants to qualify for earnings. Payment computation is executed according to the reseller’s tier in the company hierarchy.

Secondly, resellers in MLM are allowed to choose the products to be sold for a wide range of available products from the company. Any resale of the product is the earning for the reseller minus the cost. Resellers may choose to make product purchases for their personal consumption.

Thirdly, MLM organizations practice a membership structure with tiers to position every reseller in generating handsome incomes. A reseller may recruit new marketers to be their down-lines for a commission percentage from every sale made. These sales are known as second-tier sales, which spike up the earnings of the up-line reseller. Hence, a reseller can gain higher earnings with deeper tier recruitments. But the necessary training and service must be provided to their down-lines to ensure sustainability and profitability.

Fourthly, MLM marketers have more processes to undertake from purchase orders to sales and recruitment. But they would be trained from executive administrators before commencing the marketing program independently. There is often a well setup structure with strong administrative services to support every MLM reseller.

Fifthly, resellers may need to schedule their time wisely throughout the week to meet potential customers who may also be recruited into the system. Hence, it is common to have appointments in the evenings and weekends when consumers are free to attend to these business visits. Interested individuals with MLM business opportunities may be invited to seminars or conferences to understand the whole system and concepts better before venturing into it on a serious note. Part-time and full time employment is possible.

The sixth difference between affiliate marketing and MLM is the deeper relations resellers enjoy with their customers as this improves sales and profits for resellers. This is necessary to facilitate product training and down line motivation for successful lower tier resellers. Moreover, a personal touch is administered by MLM resellers to connect with their down-line resellers, and provide the necessary customer support in pushing sales, which in turn boost the personal earnings of up-line resellers.

Last but not least, MLM resellers are allowed to set their prices on their chosen products unlike affiliate programs with fixed price products. MLM resellers may choose to offer customers lower pricing on their products to attract more sales or interest individuals to become down line resellers. It is possible to have different MLM resellers competing against each other, especially among different groups to garner more sales.

Conclusion

Affiliate marketing differs from MLM, although both offer exciting business opportunities via the latest technologies. It is up to individual marketers to compare and decide which option is more suitable to their indulgence.

Ultimate Internet Marketing Image
A Synergy of Traditional Offline & Online Marketing Strategies

With the rampant promotion of Internet marketing strategies today, it is not surprising to note the increasing marketing activities that a company would undertake to secure the best deal in town for their own benefit. A marketing revolution is underway with a strong shifting from traditional offline advertising or outbound advertising to the new Internet or online marketing or advertising. A growing momentum is recorded with this transition as Internet marketing gains higher popularity today to be the preferred marketing choice for most businesses regardless of size and industry.

Traditional marketing strategies options

Traditional advertising or marketing approaches are considered to be staid and ineffective; if not old fashion to cater to a new group of modern consumers. Outbound advertising is tedious and time consuming besides being costly and inconvenient compared to the new and modern online marketing strategies that modern consumers prefer. This creates a definite customer antipathy to entice customers to the company even if there is a great offer up for grabs.

Traditional marketing seeks out prospective clients via an invasive strategy which is often resented by consumers while such approaches incur high costs on the company. A negative stereotype marketing campaign does not put the company in good light with high advertising costs imposed.

Modern consumers are looking for more excitement and fresh advertising that stimulates their senses and mental capacity. It can be annoying to receive piles of ads instead of useful information that enhances lifestyle and productivity.

Emerging marketing trend

One of the newer marketing revolutions in this era is Internet marketing. The advanced technologies available open the gateway for the Internet to be a promising marketing platform that is dynamic and cost effective.

A simple but well designed business website can function so effectively in drawing web traffic to seek out its goods and services effortlessly from local and global consumers at any time of the day or night throughout the year. Technology savvy consumers prefer to surf the Net for desired or required information on products and services that would enhance their lifestyle or productivity. The advanced technologies applied on the Internet allow businesses and consumers to enjoy a myriad of activities effortlessly such as banking, connecting with others, communication, Skype, perform business transactions or make purchases.

Modern technologies with dropping prices on electronic appliances make it cheaper for businesses and consumers to get hooked up for the best of resource seeking activities in the fastest possible time. Broadband connectivity allows one and all to be totally connected quickly across any two points on planet Earth. Instant access to anything is now possible for any consumer or business to boost learning and buying.

Best of both worlds

It would be wrong to throw off all traditional marketing approaches just to embrace the new online approach as there are certain values of the former for various business entities. Certain traditional marketing options may boost a business’s image or market presence more effectively than relying wholly on Internet marketing strategies. It is thus important for a smart business company to marry the two for the best of synergies in cost effective marketing.

Most traditional marketing options are offline using traditional tools and techniques such as distribution of promotional leaflets and flyers on products and services. But these approaches can be combined with online advertising to widen the scope of consumers reached as there may be certain places that do not have good Wi-Fi facilities. There are consumers who are not well versed with modern technologies and the Internet to take advantage of the host of information available on the web. There are many consumers who may not trust the security measures of online marketing with a strong preference to making purchases through traditional advertising methods.

It is the smart business owners or managers who are aware of the different strata of consumers available in the marketplace to tap on them via the most conducive marketing means even if it means engaging traditional advertising with online options. A dynamic synergy can be generated through this fusion to cause an effective fission on promoting the company products and services. A careful study on the best of traditional and Internet marketing tools and techniques would generate an impactful marketing strategy that would cause the desired result to come about.

Impact of synergy

A great impact can be enjoyed when traditional offline marketing strategies combine with online marketing approaches regardless of industry and size for any business. A synergy of benefits can be reaped when both types of marketing approaches are applied appropriately to each business. Such a combination can be the ultimate Internet marketing strategy that brings in the best of profits, sales and bottom lines desired by companies in all industries. However, experts in both marketing approaches would be required to mix and match for the best formula in promoting the business offerings. Where one marketing approach is weak, the other marketing option can be implemented to boost the effects and subsequently the results for the company.

The right application of traditional marketing tools with Internet marketing techniques can offer the best of results such as online flyers, banners and leaflets that can be distributed via email marketing at lower cost with a wider spread since there is no paper involvement. Changes to the online advertising banner can be made easily to enhance the products on promotion without having to go back to the printers for a new template and extra costs. Hence, a traditional banner advertising technique can be implemented using modern Internet marketing tools to enjoy a lower advertising cost that is more impactful for the business.

Consumers, especially those who are concerned about protecting the environment with a lower carbon footprint would be happy to support companies that opt for Internet marketing tools and activities over traditional marketing approaches that manipulate natural resources unsparingly.

Conclusion

Internet marketing strategies may be new and attractive to modern businesses in operating businesses differently today, but it does not mean the old has to go. Traditional offline marketing strategies options are still applicable to many businesses small or big that do not have the full access to modern technology at the moment.

I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure, which is: Try to please everybody(by Herbert Bayard S.)

Such are the words that you hear from many other gurus and motivational quote. One should not try to please everyone when doing business because hater will always hate and there’s really nothing much you can do about it. As an internet marketer it is important for one to understand why it is never a good thing to try and please everyone. Instead you should try your best to only sell and market to people who will appreciate you and your products.

Fact #1: You cannot please everybody.

The main reason why as a business person you should not try to please everyone is because you cannot hope to please everybody. Everyone is unique and everyone thinks differently. This is the reason why when you go to YouTube, you will rarely find any video that will has no negative comments. This happens in almost every single video that allows ratings.

If you’ve been onto Facebook or Pinterest or any other similar social websites, you will almost always see ‘bad seeds’ trying to create trouble with your post even when your post is seemingly loved by the majority. There will always be haters and there’s not much you can do about it. No matter how you try to reason with these people they will not listen and things will only go from bad to worse.

Trying to reason or argue with these problematic people is a waste of your time and energy. What you should do is state your point and clearly as possible so that by standers or on lookers can see where you are coming from and leave it as it is. There is no point to keep the conversation going further. If there is a need to refund the person their money, just do it promptly and be rid of this problem.

Always be sure to prove your point in a professional manner so be sure not to lose your temper and start using bad language. Handling these problematic people should be done is a professional manner so that other people will respect you.

Fact #2: It’s not necessary to please everybody.

For your business to do well and make a lot of money and profit, it is not necessary to please absolutely everyone. You can be trying to sell to just a small group of people on the internet and still make a lot of money and be wildly successful. For example, if you are trying to teach how to lose weight using a good self-discipline technique, you should never try to sell it to those who believe in exercising to lose weight or to those who believe in losing weight using supplements.

Trying to sell to people who have a completely different set of mindset is very hard. So you should just leave them be and focus your energy on those who will believe in you and try out your product. People who believe in you are the ones who will give your product an honest try and this is where you can get results to show for your products. As you may have guessed those who do not want your product will never use your product anyway even if they managed to grab a copy of your product.

Learn to identify your target market well and understand your target market. Note that even within your small targeted group of market, you might still encounter trouble makers. As usual, you should just ignore them and move on. Losing one business will not kill your business if you are not doing anything fundamentally wrong. If you stop and just try hard to sell to these people, you are just wasting your time and it will just mess you up emotionally. The best thing you can do is just to tell them that you do not want their money.

This is the same case as when you are in the development phase of your product. You should try your best to just develop your product as best as you can. In the end of the day, if the majority of the people who bought from you are happy, then you are doing the right things. Listen to what those unhappy comments are. If it makes sense, then add them into your future product updates. If it is not reasonable or if the unhappy customer is asking or too much, just apologize for them and tell them that whatever you are selling at the moment is not what they are looking for.

Another way to help reduce unhappy customers is to make sure that you are under promising in your marketing messages and then over deliver later. Never try to over promise in your sales message because that will surely get people to dislike your product.

Fact #3: Rejection will not ruin your life.

Learn to reject bad customers sometimes. Customers not always right, however, be sure to reject them with a smile. It’s not a fun or enjoyable thing to do but your life will surely be better if you do not have to worry over the problems that arise with troublesome customers. Rejections will not ruin your life, especially if you choose not to let it ruin your life. You need to accept that you can’t please everybody and move on.

Focus your business on service those who deserve your attention and bring a smile to their face. They will reward you with not only their money, but their trust and their great testimonials as well. These are the people who will make you rich, and these are the people who will bring you even more ‘nice’ customers who will put money into your wallet willingly. Hence, from this day forwards, learn to reject people who are too troublesome to work with and understand that you absolutely do not have to please everyone because you can’t.

They have different methodologies and approaches to marketing. The main difference is that in Internet marketing, all is done from your computer, whereas in network marketing, besides using computers, many things can be done offline to promote your business.

Many online marketers use both Network Marketing and Internet Marketing to make money online. Network marketing takes building relationships and provides a residual income whereas Internet Marketing is point of sale income.

Internet marketing is the selling of services and products using the Internet. You can promote your own products and services but also promote through affiliates or work with Joint Venture partners. Growing a list of email subscribers is key as the main promotional avenues is sending emails. Internet Marketing is a great way to reduce costs of any direct sales product. It is also wonderful for providing instant access to any electronic information.

Network marketing is creating a network of sales distributors who will be engaged in marketing and selling the company’s products. It is primarily a system of networks that have been perfected by Multi Level Marketing (MLM) companies. A business opportunity is offered to whoever is interested in the product promoted by you. Anyone who is interested in earning some extra money can join in and start as a distributor or affiliate; thus a group of people is created and they all work towards one goal – the sale of the MLM product and adding more sales people under their name. These products can be sold by face to face meetings, advertising on the internet, advertising offline methods, and word of mouth.

Network marketers can make use of online and offline techniques to build their team. Phone calls on the Internet using facilities like Skype is possible now, but may not be as effective as traditional phones using landlines or cellular phones. There are many ways online to network with potential customers and business partners by going to some of the well known sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and just making friends there. If you connect with someone and they want to know more about you and what you do, send them to your website.

Content in this blog will support both Internet Marketing and Network Marketing.
